Hawaii

Hawaii is the place that where I have had some of the best times of my life. I have taken two school sponsored trips called “Migrate to Skate” to Maui with a group of my best friends with the sole purpose of stacking clips and skating. Seriously, how can you top that? Maui is home two a few of downhills best runs. If I were only allowed one road to skate for the rest of my life it would be Poli’s. If there were only one grip run, it would be crater. But the trips weren’t about the hills, in fact, getting some of the best skating of my life wasn’t even the best part. The best part was spending 10 days on the most amazing, insane, hilarious, adventures anyone could ask for. I have a family in skating, and they were on this trip.

Migrate to Skate 2015

Migrate to skate 2015 was my first taste of a longboard trip that didn’t have the ties of a team manager. I was an equal in the decision making process, and it was on this trip that my ideals of self sufficient skating began to develop. Traveling with my friends with the motivation to have a good time and make memories that we wanted to create rather than the motivation of selling gear was a liberating and exciting territory to enter. The trip still had sponsors (Big shouts out to Randal Trucks, a company I am still flowed by) but the intention of the trip and related video were to document the trip rather than do the same old thing companies had done again and again. This general air of freedom combined with the miraculous oddities and excitements so deeply ingrained in Migrate to Skate created the perfect atmosphere for an unforgettable trip.

Photos from the trip

Here are a couple photos I snagged on the trip. The times we had on this trip will remain some of the dearest memories for the rest of my life. Trips like this are how I attempt to live my life to the fullest, and this is how my best friendships have been made. Just click on the next photo to keep the album scrolling.

Migrate to Skate 2016

Round 2: The Return of the Haole. Migrate to Skate 2016 was the most organized, most accomplished, most ambitious skate trip I have been a part of. The video series that resulted from the trip was of higher quality and the general scope of the project exceeded that of any video I had been a part of in the past. Once again, Western had paid for our rental cars in exchange for a video, and one again, there were a group of skate bums loose on Maui wreaking havoc on hills, parks, and foodlands all across the island. Jacob almost drown, Sam pooped where he shouldn’t have, Dylan broke his ankle, Ben held a strangers baby while mama rolled a smoke, I skated crater naked, Bobby McClain was born, we saw Seth Rogan at the airport, Andy went on the trip with less than a week of longboarding under his belt and he killed it, Jack Bain made it out from Australia, and so much more happened that I will never be able to summarize it. It was absolutely off the walls, rock your socks off, once in a lifetime, had to be there magical. Best trip ever.
